New Providence Reds

The 2024 Reds season was overshadowed with sadness. on Monday, July 8, 2024, Coach Sal Nesto passed away after a 16 year battle with Prostate Cancer.
Coach Sal has been in the third base coaches box for almost two decades and has been a part of 5 Championships for the Reds. This season has felt different without Coach Sal on the field, but his presence will never be forgotten. Sal was fortunate to coach all 3 of his sons on the Reds at various times in their careers: Ray (33), Matt (30) and Derek (19). His loving wife Lisa could always been seen in the crowd cheering on her husband and sons, as could Ray's wife Sarina and Matt's wife Emily.

We were so blessed to have him in our dugout, and his memory will always be with the Reds. Sal's #1 Jersey will not be worn again.

On the field, the Reds finished 2nd in the Summer North Division with a 7-2-1 record. Unfortunately, the efforts fell short in the post season with a loss in the semi-finals to the Jersey Bandits (League runner-up).

Michael Pierce captured the league Cy Young Award. Pierce went 4-2 with a 2.31 ERA in 33 1/3 IP. He added 33 Ks and a 1.11 WHIP along with 4 CG. Pierce also led the team in hits (15) and RBI (16).

As a team, the Reds slashed .409/.501/.534/1.035 and had a team ERA of 2.78
