NJABL Hot Stove is Cooking: Reds look to add bat & pitching depth
NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - As the calendar flips to January pitchers and catchers begin to get that itch to get back on the diamond. While the Reds are still enjoying their 2016 North Intermediate Championship, the 2017 season (and title defense) is quickly approaching. It is with a heavy heart we announce the retirement of long time Reds OF David DeRosa (#3). Dave has been relocated to Boston, Massachusetts for work and will not be able to play with the boys in red/black this summer. His departure opens up a hole in the OF that has been filled by DeRosa since the Reds were in Whitehouse Station in the early 2000's. While an OF bat is a key piece Manager Matt Sommo will be looking to find, adding another arm is on the skippers radar. "Pitching wins championships" was a motto cried out loud and proud by the Reds in 2016, and having back-to-back NJABL Cy Young Award winner Ace Scott Horowitz was proof of that. An additional arm to compliment him and Harry Cohen (who had a solid Fall season at Drew University and is prepping for his Sophomore season with the Rangers) is definitely in the fold.
