NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The New Providence Reds opened their 2025 season on Sunday in dominant fashion, defeating the Union Misfits by a score of 14-1.
The Reds scored early and often on the way to a convincing victory. They jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on back- to- back bases loaded walks by Michael Pierce and Robert Grasso. Jack Connor followed that up with a sacrifice fly to left field to plate Luca Vitale.
The Reds plated seven more runs in the 2nd inning, with the big blow coming from newcomer Nick Santacross who drove in three runs with a double to make the score 9-1 and put the game out of reach. Both Santacross and Grasso finished the afternoon with three RBI’s each, while Pierce chipped in with two RBI. Vitale and Dean Licari each scored three runs on the afternoon.
