2018 NJABL Postseason

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The regular season has concluded and the New Providence Reds have finished a game better than last year with a 10-8 record. The Reds enter the postseason as the #4 seed and host the #5 seed Jersey Rays at Oakwood Park (New Providence) Sunday, August 5th at 11:30am.

The 2018 season ended on a sour note with the Reds losing 4 of 5, however they still finished with the 3rd most runs scored (98) 3rd fewest runs allowed (53) in the North.

The offense was powered by 3b Tom PAvero and C Will Anderson, and the staff was as good as ever.

Pavero led the team in hits (16), RBI (14), and the league in Runs (17) while slashing .333/.507/.417/.924 on the season.

Will was tied for 2nd in hits (15), first in TB (27) and average and led the league in HR (3) while slashing .347/.426/.643/1.068.

Scott Horowitz went 3-4 with a 1.50 ERA while striking out 58 in 56 IP. Newcomer Pete House went 5-0 in his first season as a Red with a 2.18 ERA, striking out 33 in 35 1/3. Harry Cohen went 2-4 with a 2.46 ERA and 39 K in 37 IP.

The Reds split against the Rays in 2018; losing 1-0 in New Providence (May 6) and then won 11-4 on Father's Day in Jersey City (June 17).
